The Greenhouse was a design and build project which provided a state of the art sustainable residential mixed use development, in Leeds. The project contains 172 one, two and three bedroom apartments and 17,000ft2 of “Grade A” sustainable offices as well as a gym and deli.
The project comprised refurbishment of an existing 1930’s six storey hostel building and construction of an adjoining new-build core of 8-storey’s, together with 2 new storey’s to the existing building to form a new mixed use development with basement car parking. The pioneering urban regeneration project is the UK’s first carbon negative residential development and complies with level 4 of Sustainable Homes. It has won a variety of awards including the 2009 Estates Gazette Green Award for Best Residential Development, CEDIA Best Multi Dwelling Project, Premier Guarantee Excellence Award Environmental/Conservation Project of the Year due to various sustainability features.
