Nottingham-based Clegg Construction is pressing ahead with a range of initiatives in a bid to boost local community projects.  The company’s Managing Director, Simon Blackburn explained: “Despite the challenging economic climate we firmly believe we have a big responsibility in putting something back into our local area.  Our employees are being tremendously supportive and they’re putting their shoulders to the wheel too in trying to make the most of our efforts.”

In one event, Clegg hosted a charity cricket tournament at Trent Bridge, home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, featuring teams fielded by consultants from Nottingham – Gleeds, Browne Jacobson, Maber Architects, BWB Consulting, BSP Consulting and Turner and Townsend.  The day raised £800 for the cricket club’s charitable arm, the Trent Bridge Community Sports Trust, which supports a number of initiatives to engage young people in sport. The schemes include Positive Futures, a three year project aimed at engaging 11-19 years olds in a range of sports to encourage social inclusion and healthier lifestyles.“Clegg Construction is a valuable sponsor of our Twenty20 Cup side and its support for the Trent Bridge Community Sports Trust will help to further boost the work we do to help local young people,” said Mark Worrall, Business Development Manager at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.  “We are delighted to be associated with Clegg Construction.”Clegg has been responsible for a number of improvements at Trent Bridge in recent years, including the construction of the Fox Road and Bridgford Road stands and Mr Blackburn, said: “This is the second year we have run the corporate cricket competition at Trent Bridge and once again it has proved a huge success.  As a socially responsible local business, we are pleased to have been able to support the Community Sports Trust and I would also like to thank all the companies that entered teams in the competition.”
